Bow River

Bow River

commission project for Abbotsford Convent C3, 2014

Young kids still have a yearning for the hunter and gathering instinct which is not very welcome in this society.

So why not we use it for ‘ART' purposes!

This workshop originated from Chaco’s son Ringos (10 years old at that time), extreme obsession with weapon making, which was sadly and understandably banned in the school yard. He was happy to realise that the weapons he was making could be reframed as “art Objects”.

His wall of weapons was exhibited as part of our “Bow River “ exhibition and sold out overnight!

Dylans daughter, Inez , deep in her Hunger Games obsession was also making her own bow and arrows and creating her own shooting gallery of mannequin heads , drum pieces and various other “hunger game “ contestants outside her house. This developed into Bow River an installation combining our childrens obsession with weapon making which seemed like the perfect trojan horse for an exhibition of dystopian survivalism.

Slow Art Collective commissioned those junior team run a Bow and Arrow making workshop especially for Mothers Day.

The simple bow and arrow was easy and simple to make, designed by Ringo Watanabe, after a long period of research.

Documentary video of young boys being obsessed the weapon making and how artistic it can be.
